I Miss The Old Public Forum @ Fodors.com
I sure do miss the humor, and the varied and more plentiful posts that used to show up at this site. You can now read the entire days posts in about 10-minutes. I thought a website makes money by the number of hits it receives. I wonder how Expedia, Random House, etc. will be compensated for their losses as well. Who wanted this new format (that probably cost a fortune for Fodors to implement)?
Happy Trails,
Paul

Yes, I have to admit that those posts over there are quite humorous, ParrotMom. Thanks for the heads up. I also have to say that the U.S. Hawaii answers to, "...Where to start" is worth putting on the ol' hard drive - ukfiona's answer, in particular, is most informative. Hope you are having a terrific night.

Normally, I can return here several times a day and still spend hours catching up with the posts. In the last two days I find that after an afternoon away, I can catch up in about 10 minutes. Yesterday I cleaned my den. Today, I'm organizing files -- long over due. I guess I should be grateful to Fodors for giving me back my life.
Do you think the problems posting have caused the problem as much as registration?

I have only noticed minor problems with posting, not that I post that often mind you. I do know that I feel a void in my life - missing the days of reading some great 'adventures' in this room. 'Tis life....

And for what it's worth, the Europe board seems to be working a lot better than this US one. I've run into times when I can't get anything here, and judging from the lack of posts in a certain time frame apparently no one else can either, but if I go to the Europe board I can post.

I just discovered Fodor's and thought I found heaven. I love to travel and thought what a great forum to be able to share and discuss travel with others. Now I read how awful it is now because of registration. That pre-registration it was so much better, more informative. Since I wasn't around then, can someone please explain? Because I think we're fortunate ti have this forum for exchange! Has someone found anything better?

Hi Everybody,
Although I don't post a lot, I do read the posts pretty much every other day. But, I really don't miss the "old" days. I couldn't read even 1 topic where someone wasn't bad mouthing someone else. They would critique their grammar, call people names, etc. I got real tired of a lot of people on this board.
I know, I don't have to read the posts, but I do have to sift through them to get any information. Yes there may be fewer post here, but at least they may say something useful.
I might be the minority, but I like the new board. I don't understand why someone doesn't want to register unless they are trying to hide something. Maybe there is something to it I just don't understand (probably is).
Just my 2 cents.
Duane
