How much $ to Drive to NY's JFK Airport?
Does anybody know how much it costs in Tolls (bridges, tunnels) to drive from the Jersey Shore (Monmouth County) to JFK Airport? I think it's in Queens, on Long Island.
I have to pick up some friends that are flying in from Ireland on July 25. I have a car and can figure out the cost of gas, but don't have a clue as to what they are charging on those bridges, or the GSP or Tnpk.

It probably depends on how you drive, but there are two toll bridges if you cross over Staten Island, as well as turnpike tolls to think of. I've never done this trip by car, but I can imagine well over $20 in tolls going, but less coming back since you only pay for the Verrazano Narrows Bridge one-way. It might be cheaper to go through Manhattan (Holland Tunnel over to the Brooklyn Bridge), but it would take more time. It's also cheaper if you have EZ Pass.

Thanks, Doug!
I agree......going through Manhattan would take time and be a traffic nightmare! I'm going to take 278 through SI.
I thought someone on this forum might know how much exactly the trip would cost driving.

The Verrazano Narrows toll is a whopping $13 (one-way, though). And the other bridge (either Goethals or Bayonne) is $8 (again, one-way). I haven't the slightest idea of the tolls in NJ, though. So it's at least $21 going but probably nothing coming back through NYC. I'm sure there are tolls in NJ, which seems to have tolls every 2 miles or so.
It's going to be MUCH easier for you if you have EZ Pass.

Via the GSP about $20. Outerbridge Crossing to Staten Island is $8 or $6 depending on peak or non- peak. Verrazano Bridge is $13. If you do not have an EZ Pass it may be a bit more. It could be a bad wait at either toll without EZ Pass.
There is no toll on the highways in NYC that you will need to take.
