How long drive-time from Fredricksburg to Richmond Airport?
The last day of our vacation we'll spend the day in Fredricksburg, then drive to lodging near Richmond Airport (Friday late afternoon/evening). Can anyone suggest what route and how long it will take? Beginning weekend encounters? Lodging close to airport?
And...would you know how far it is between Charlottesville and Skyland Lodge, via the Skyline Drive? Any help will be most appreciated - I'll post our tenative itinerary, if anyone's interested.

Take I95 south to I64 east and follow the signs to the airport. Alternately, take I 95 south and I295 (Norfolk/NC) and follow the signs to the airport. About an hour and 15 minutes either way. Rush hour and weekend traffic congestion are definitely a possibility.
I can't recommend a hotel near the airport from personal experience. Many of the the usual chain suspects are there. Why are you staying near the airport? Nothing wrong with it but it's a totally boring area.

Yes, it'll take you about an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and a half to get from Fredericksburg to the Richmond airport. Traffic isn't too bad going south from Fredericksburg (compared to Northern Virginia) but it's been more congested than usual this summer, in my opinion. (I drive it every day.) If you run into an actual wreck or backup, Route 1 parallels 95, although it's got a lot of stoplights. Rush hour in Richmond eases by about 6 usually. Anyway, barring traffic accidents on 95 or 64 you shouldn't have too much trouble.

Thank you for your help. Being unfamiliar with the area and a reasonable time to travel between Fredricksburg and the airport, we thought perhaps it would be wise to stay nearby to avoid unexpected delays such as traffic. Our flight leaves at noon on a Saturday - is there somewhere you would suggest staying, such as Richmond itself, or somewhere in between the two cities? Or just remain in Fredricksburg Friday evening? Again, I sincerely appreciate your help, as the person driving is uncomfortable in heavy traffic. (We live in a rural area/very light daily traffic).
