Hotel Near the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers

My boss wants to stay at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers (811-7th Avenue on 53rd Street), but its booked solid the week he'll be in town, as is the Hilton New York at 1335 Avenue of the Americas.

Besides the Sheraton Manhattan, can anyone recommend a similar quality hotel in the immediate area?

Thank you!

You could have a look at the Parker Meridien or the Crowne Plaza - fairly close - and also large and corporate..

I recently attended training right across the street from the Sheraton Towers, and below are the choices my company travel agent provided me. I also noticed the Michelangelo very nearby, which is often mentioned on this site. These are our corporate rates but may give you general idea for comparions to Sheraton.

Area for zip code 10019 --
Hudson - $419.00
Crowne Plaza Times SQ - $359.00
Park Central Hotel - $259.00-319.00 (rate change) - Times Square
Flatotel - $359.00 - Rockefeller Center (suppose to be a cool hotel)
Sheraton NY and Tower - $329.00
Hilton NY - $329.00
Dream - $339.00 (very cool hotel with very small rooms)
Wellington Hotel - $219.00 - 55th and 7th Ave

The Michelangelo (beautiful) look on quikbook.com for better prices than the hotel's
Chambers
The Flatotel
the London NYC

Just a note: several of thoes listed are not necessarily business hotels. I would be sure what facilities you boss needs and then make sure the hotel has them (really has them) before booking.

(I've had bad experiences with some hotels that claim they have business facilities - and then it turns out to be very limitd services at very limited hours.)
