Hawaii-Macademia nut pancakes?

This is an odd question, but when one gets macademia nut pancakes in Hawaii (specifically on Oahu), are the nuts baked into the pancake or just sprinkled over the top? Are they served differently depending on which restaurant you get them? The places I'm thinking of trying them are Eggs N Things or Boots and Kimos---any other places to suggest? I'm hoping to find places where the nuts are baked in, as I think I'd prefer them that way. Thanks.

I think they are usually in and on top both, often served w/ coconut syrup.

It's not an odd question, I have the same *requirement* about banana pancakes -lol!

Also if you want banana pancakes, Likelike Drive In (pronounced, LEE-kay LEE-kay) has the best.

mmmm....

May depend upon the restaurant. When we've had them, the mac nuts were mixed in the batter. There were a few sprinkled on top for garnish, but I'm sure you could request they not be.

Do you have any specific restaurants in mind? Maybe they have a website with a menu and decriptions.

Coconut syrup is soooo yummy!

When we had them, they were baked in and so good. I love that coconut syrup too and haven't been able to find it on the mainland.

For those in the Northwest
Fred Meyer sells the coconut syrup (same brand as ABC stores carry. They also sell a Macadamia nut pancake mix! They also sell POG which is great.
Fred Meyer was bought by Kroger so Kroger may carry them but we dont have Kroger here so I cant verify that.

I make my own like Melissa. I just throw some chopped mac nuts in the regular pancake mix and cook.

Unsure about Kroger, but I'm going to look.

I do know you can order the syrup and the pancake mix from ABC stores online.

I'm not sure about Oahu, but if you ever get to Maui, you must go to the Gazebo at Napili. Persoanlly, I like Banana pancakes more than Macadamia but always with Coconut syrup. I think the nuts are put in the batter and sprinkled on top.

Ask at the restaurant how they make them and request them with the nuts cooked in. That shouldn't be a problem at any restaurant.

And on Kauai, really mean banana macnut pancakes can be had at Kountry Kitchen in Kapaa and/or Joe's on the Green near Koloa in Poipu. Just pour coconut syrup with gusto!

At Lulu's on Oahu, the mac nuts were sprinkled on top, as were bananas.
