Grand Wailea Question

Hi. Can someone help me with location of the rooms at the Grand Wailea. I'm booked there in August for 5 nights. I know all the rooms are the same size and the price difference pertains to location and view. I'm able to get a rate of 291.00 for a Terrace view which is the lowest. Or 390.00 for a mountain/garden view which is close to the pools and the spa. Of course I prefer that location but for a 100.00 a night I'm trying to find out what actually the terrace view is. She said it's close to the lobby, and shops. I'm sure it's not a terrible view but I guess I'm wondering if it's in an awful spot at the resort or not.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

We only stayed at GW a couple days, but they were so nice to us and upgraded us at no $)charge from Terrace to Ocean View. We checked out late and they gave us a few hours complementary stay in a ground level Terrace room which had a partial view of the garden landscaped grounds and in the direction of the ocean another wing of the hotel blocked the direct ocean view.

I would not spend the extra $) for a better mountain/garden unless it was whale watching season-in which case you would instead want some kind of ocean view room, however August is not whalewatching season.

Our terrace room view was lovely with oblique views of both the ocean and Haleakala.

Thank you for the replies. As far as lay out. Is the resort so enormous that Terrace view rooms would be far from the pool or beach access. I think too, the extra dollars would not be worth it. Maybe I can hope for an upgrade if available. Did you ask for it or they just gave it?

Our Terrace View was close to the pool, and I did not feel that the resort was overly large, though it did not seem as close to the ocean as some resorts are, because of the lavish pool area situated in between.

I'm not sure how my wife convinced them to give us the complimentary upgrade, as I was tending the luggage, though I must say she is quite competent in demanding the best available.
