Fun cities

We are 2 single women in out mid 30's who will be traveling to Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont next spring. We have 1 week to hit all 3 states and want to be sure to stay in the cities that have the most action in the way of nightlife. Any suggestions?

All the nightlife?
In Maine, NH and VT?
That's a tough one.
Burlington VT has some night life since the UVT is there, but for a tourist seeking generic 'action', that's about it in my experience.
Keep in mind just how small the populations are in these states.
VT has no cities with a native population over 60,000.
NH has one (Manchester, a rather rough around the edges industrial town IMO) if you don't count Nashua (which is practically a suburb of Boston).
Maine has Portland which is 60,000.
These are very rural feeling states.

Sounds like the best nightlife in ME, NH & VT will be in the woods -- with the squirrels, racoons, etc. LOL!!!

No offense to Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, but they are great states to visit, but you don't travel there for the nightlife.

I live in the White Mountains of NH and it is a beautiful area (especially in the summer LOL) but I really wouldn't say that the night life in NH and VT are the best. Having lived in NH though I would suggest Manchester or Nashua as the best places for night life. Or maybe consider Salem NH and book into Boston which is far and above any place in VT or NH as far as night life goes.

Srianda,

When are you going, and where are you from?

During Ski season, Killington VT, Bethel, ME and North Conway, NH.

During the summer, Burlington, VT, Nowhere in Maine (Old Orchard or Ogunquit, maybe?), and Hampton Beach NH.

If your standard is major city nightlife, there ain't none.

Portland, Maine's Old Port has quite a night life. Over 50 bars and clubs in a 5-7 block radius. It's definately worth checking out and a lot bigger than anyplace in NH or VT.

I bet you'd find some nightlife in Portsmouth, NH if you were there on the weekend.
