Forks Area & "Twilight" Films

We might be going to Washington in August and I just found out that Forks and LaPush is the "Twilight" area. My niece will be with us and she is a big fan. Is it worth the extra driving to get over to this area? Was anything actually filmed in these areas or is it just based off the looks of this area? Are the town and area names really used in the movies or books?

I have only seen the first film and did not care for it, so I do not know all the details. The Forks website has "Twilight" points of interest: http://www.forkswa.com/twilight

There is also a "Twilight" tour that gets great reviews on TripAdvisor: http://twilighttoursinforks.com/take-the-tour-2/

You might want to come to St. Helens Oregon to see this house.

Thanks for the link. I have been looking up more info online and it seems that there is no point in going to Forks as far as seeing the film locations. I would think visiting Forks is only for the people that can put the film aside and picture the books descriptions.

Was anything in the Forks area actually in the film (town welcome sign, Bella's truck [at the visitors center], etc.)?

E-mailed Forks Visitor Center and they let me know that no parts of the movie were filmed in the Forks area, not even the town welcome sign. Also, Bella's truck at the center is just a replica. Everything in the books is based on actual sites in the Forks area. Most of the film locations are in Oregon (lots around the Portland area).

Well, one location here in Oregon that was a filming spot was the View Point Inn. It had a devastating fire a few days ago though, and so for the time being at least, I would pass on this.

I know this is not in the Forks area, but since the Oregon locations were mentioned I just thought I would throw this info out there for anyone else.
