Casinos near Portland, Oregon
Want to include one casino on a trip to the Portland area next week. Looking for something with a good selection of slots. I saw Spirit Mountain and it looked good, but is there anything closer?

Oregon's newest casino. In Warm Springs along US 26.

Isn't there something else in Oregon you want to see?

ignore them
Why? If the OP had Googled "portland oregon casino" a map would have popped up with little red markers showing where casinos are located. But the question was asked here where people who love traveling answer questions. My reaction is the same I have given my brother-in-law who lives in Texas and never visits Oregon without spending a few days at whatever casino is is North Bend.

Sorry, but both you and tom came across like the OP is an idiot and doesn't know there are other things to do in Oregon. What on Earth is wrong w/ asking where the nearest casino is. Now, if he had asked where the nearest vineyard is and I suppose would the responses have been so snarky??
dunno?

I would go to Spirit Mountain! It's only an hour and a half from Portland and nice drive out of Salem. It is about a half hour from the beach also. Nice casino! I live here and can tell you that Spirit Mountain and then Chinook winds are the best casinos that we have been to around here. Don't let them get to you

snark·y (snärk)
adj. snark·i·er, snark·i·est Slang
1. Rudely sarcastic or disrespectful; snide.
2. Irritable or short-tempered; irascible.
I always do whatever I can to discourage gambling. I don't think I was snarky, but if I was I apologize.

Thanks, KB and janis-- looks like Spirit Mountain would be a fun stop on the way to the beach.
I always try to post specific questions to avoid those condescending answers. I have researched this trip a lot on my own and also received some excellent suggestions here. I am really looking forward to it, gambling and all.

I doublechecked and yes, I also posted on your thread about the time you are spending in the Columbia Gorge. Given that you are going to the Gorge, Warm Springs makes more sense for your other activities. The Casino is located right on US26; you can essentially make your trip into a loop.
I have not been inside the casino, just the museum. If you have the time and want to venture several miles off the highway, go to the main Kah-Nee-Ta Resort and enjoy their huge pool and hot tubs for the day, They are heated by the springs, at least in part.

The only way? They could sell them cigarettes to give them lung cancer or fireworks to blow themselves up. But watch out Bobmrg, there is somebody patrolling this post to vent outrage at those who have thoughts on their mind beyond sitting in a smoke-filled room pumping money into a slot machine.

I've been to Spirt mountain. Even though I always stop gambling the minute I lose $20, it was a fun place to break up the ride to the coast on a rainy (surprise!)autumn day. My judgement may be tempered by the fact that I won about $100 from a penny slot machine.
I may be wrong, but I think it was non-smoking.

If you go about 200 miles south on I-5 you can go to the 7 Feathers casino. http://www.sevenfeathers.com/
They have about the best buffet I've had in Oregon.
