First Anniversary - Tight Budget - Romantic Getaway from NYC in NOVEMBER?

We would love some feedback on any recommendations for a weekend getaway to celebrate our first wedding anniversary? (2 - 3 hour drive max, if possible)

Know of anything going on for the weekend of the 9th of Nov?

Loves:
* Romantic B&B's with jacuzzi and/or hot tub, victorian style decor and scrumptous full breakfasts (max $150/night if possible), bicycles would be nice too!

* Antiquing, Flea Marketing...rummaging...

* Horseback Riding - we could use an inexpensive lesson or two...

* Sweet wine (obviously don't know a thing about wine, but found the taste of a certain NY Riesling irresistable...whatever...)

* viewing Mansions, Victorian homes...hey, we're allowed to dream, aren't we?

* Outdoor dining (avg $20 pp max for dinner)
Seafood, Sushi, Italian, Steak, Latin

Hope that helps!

Jack: My suggestion based upon your criteria: Stay at the Beekman Arms in Rhinebeck, NY (ask for a room in the Delamater House- newer, there may be a jacuzzi don't remember). Visit Hyde Park and the Vanderbilt Mansion, both close by. Definitely make a reservation as soon as possible for any of the restaurants at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park (we ate in the Escoffier Room - FANTASTIC!!!!. The trip should take approx. 2 hrs from NYC. Have fun.

The Sagamor Hotel in Lake George. They have honeymoon and celebration packages, you can get a lodge suite with a fireplace for a weekend.Very romantic.
Rhinebeck is charming, the Beekman can be noisy if full and Delamater has no jacuzzis.
There are numerous B&B's in that region though, do a search, it is so pretty up there in the fall, lots of apple picking, antiquing in Hudson NY and other places, good food.
Anniversary dinner should be eaten at Le Petit Bistro right across the street from the Beekman in Rhinebeck. We have done that on a few occasions.
Congratulations!

I agree that Rhinebeck is a great choice. I don't think you are going to be able to do the Beekman or the Culinary Institute for $20 per person maximum for dinner though. I would look in Zagats or Chowhound on line before I go and arm myself with a list of restaurants that fit into my price range. Being unprepared could get costly.

I suggest New Hope, PA in Bucks County (2 hours from the city)...there are numerous websites that will link you to beautiful b&b's that serve sumptuous breakfasts...lots of romantic restaurants, shops, antiques, a train ride, a mule barge ride, and the Bucks County Playhouse is there, too...you can take nice walks along the Delaware...nearby Peddler's Village is Lahaska has lots of antique stores, restaurants, and a lovely inn.

Outdoor dining in November? Are you serious? Sommetimes IN NYC if there is a heat wave in November they will open the outdoor cafe area...but that doesn't happen often.
