We are a family of 4 planning a ski/snowboard trip to Jackson WY over the Christmas holidays in 2012 (3-4 nights).
We are novice/intermediate skiers and will likely need convenience and expert guidance from our hotel to ensure an "easy" and ejoyable experience. Does anyone have any resort hotel recommendations for Teton Village or Jackson?

A Visit to Charleston

If you're novices, is J-Hole really a good place for you? That mountain is not known as a haven for green-trail skiers.
Good question...I hear J-Hole is less crowded than many of the other resorts (Utah, Co, etc...) your thoughts?
Don't go! Jackson Hole is horrible for first time skiers. Sorry to say. There are very few greens and what green runs there are are very short. I am a good skier, and found the runs to not be groomed as much as I like and then it snowed and even the blue runs became mounds of moguls.
Try Crested Butte and stay at Mountaineer Square. Crested Butte is small, easy to get to from Gunnison. (flights from Houston, Dallas, and Denver) The town itself is charming and quaint victorian with a wonderful funky vibe. Plus, the mountain ski resort and the town itself are not very far apart unlike Jackson Hole where the mountain resort is pretty far out of town.
Check out Steamboat Springs, Colorado. There are runs for every skill level.
There are lots of ski-in-ski-out condos which are very convient, and the old town is charming.
Have fun!
