driving from Raleigh Hills to Shenadoah Valley

My husband and I are flyng in to Raleigh Durham on Wednesday morning and checking in to Massanutten on Friday afternoon. We have never been to this area before so I'm looking for help to figure out where we really need to go during these couple of days. We both love history just exploring new areas. We'll probably go to Charlotte to check out the speedway and stay one night. Any help we can get would be greatly appreciated.

Charlotte is 3 hours the opposite direction from Raleigh. So I'd suggest you look for directions from Charlotte. I'm sure you'll start up I77 north.

I live in Raleigh and have never heard of "Raleigh Hills". What are you talking about?

I just noticed that too. We are from Oregon and we have Raleigh Hills here. I meant Raleigh Durham. I can tell that we're in a hurry. We're heading out in about an hour. We'll see you there. I'll make sure and wave.

CharlottesVILLE is near(ish) Massanutten. Charlotte is not.

Ummmm, the OP says they are coming to Charlotte (no "ville") to see the Speedway. Hence my answer to her question. I saw no question about Charlotteville, although it is a lovely town.

Man I must have really confused everyone with that first post. We are actually spending a week at Massanutten and then a week at Williamsburg. The best flight that we could get in the area was to Raleigh-Durham and so we decided to go a couple of days early so we could spend some time in NC since we had never been there before. We are actually at Charlotte now and we have tomorrow to explore around here. Tomorrow night we are staying in Winston Salem and then Friday night we will start our week in Massanutten. We're just having a good time exploring a new part of this great country of ours. Thanks to all of you for trying to help me. I need all the help I can get.

Since you're interested in the speedway, check out www.raceshops.com for maps and directions to the team garages nearby. I hear the Penske shops are very nice!

Great link...I'm looking at it now. I think that we're going to go to the Billy Graham Library and the go to the Speedway and at least Hendricks shop and we'll see how much time we have after that. Thanks for your help
