Destination restaurant for major birthday

We are looking for a place to have a romantic dinner for my partner's upcoming 65th. We like farm to table non fussy but excellent food, great wine list a plus. Something in an inn would be a big plus. We don't want to drive much more than 2 hours from our Western MA home. The Weathersfield In in Perkinsville VT has been recommended and looks wonderful. We are searching for other options with which you have had recent personal experince, or feedback about the Weathersfield.

Not an inn, but this place in Quechee, VT, is gorgeous and the food is supposed to be fantastic. It was heavily damaged in the last hurricane but has reopened.

sf7307, yes, that is a lovely place. We've been there, though and I am looking for somewhere new to us. we much prefer ir for lunch because the view is a big part of the experience and also it is not that comfortable.

I was going to recommend Hemingway's in Vermont (near Killington) but discovered that it had closed due to Irene. I'm sure many people will miss this wonderful farm-to-table restaurant. Here is the link in case you want to see what you missed (and to watch for what may yet come): http://www.hemingwaysrestaurant.com/

This is probably too far--it is ~ 2 hrs from a near suburb of Bosont-- but is one of our most favorite places in New England. The Maine Dining Room at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport.

http://www.harraseeketinn.com/

They have this special that gives you the best room available for a flat rate of $130--for a Sunday or Monday night-- provided that you have dinner at the Inn.

We have always gone up on Patriots' Day wknd on the Sunday and stayed and had dinner, as a way of celebrating my birthday. We did not do it this year, only b/c we just got back from our 3 months in CA and it was too soon to travel again. That room rate includes a lovely afternoon tea and an amazing breakfast!

Thanks, All! Maine is too far for this trip but will look into all suggestions, which I appreciate.

Hen of The Moon in Waterbury, VT. Out of your 2 hour drive-time range though. Not at an inn but Stowe is just up the road and there are plenty of choices there.
