Desert Pearl or Cable Mountain Lodge
We have finalized our plans for our August trip to LP, Bryce, Zion and Grand Canyon NR. We need some advice on which hotel to stay in in Zion. We have reservations at both and I want to be able to cancel one soon.
Where would you stay and why?
Thanks,
Beth

I haven't seen Cable Mountain Lodge, but I believe it is on the east side. Pro: You'd have that gorgeous drive into Zion park each day. Con: You'd have that drive each day.
However, if you think you might use it as a base for all 3 parks, it is the better choice of the 2.
Desert Pearl is very nice and conveniently located in Springdale. The free town shuttle takes you to the visitor center for Zion where you catch the Zion shuttle into the park (no cars allowed). In Springdale you'll have many dining options, and Desert Pearl has little kitchenettes as well. There is a market nearby. I don't know if there are any restaurants or markets near Cable Mountain.

Cable Mountain is in Springdale, near Sol Groceries and right by the Zion Vistor Center, I think... We will only be using this hotel while in Zion.
Anyone else ever stayed at Cable Mountain???

Haven't stayed at Cable Mountain, but it would be hard to beat Desert Pearl in my opinion. Rooms are spacious, beds very comfortable, pool is great, and the town shuttle stops right outside the hotel, and you can walk to nearby restaurants in town. I love having the fridge in the room at Desert Pearl.

Wow. We were just in Zion - can't believe we didn't notice this place. (Guess I confused it with another place - sorry). It sure is perfectly located. If you can walk to the shuttle from your hotel, it will save lots of time. Why not try it?

Interesting. We never noticed Cable Mountain either. Looks like a really nice place. Desert Pearl is pretty nice but Cable Mountain looks very similar. I'd try it. Please be sure to write a review of it if you do choose to stay there. I know lots of people would be interested to hear about your experience.

We are back from our trip and wanted to review Cable Mountain Lodge... It was great. A perfect location to the park, just a 5 minute walk across the bridge to the visitor center and another quick walk to the Springdale town shuttle. It is located right behind the strip mall that holds Sol Foods and the Movie Theater. They give you free passes to see the Zion movie, which we all enjoyed. The hotel is just a few years old so the vegetation has not had a chance to mature but when it does, it will be beautiful. The rooms itself were fantastic, more like a condo, than a hotel. Hard wood floors, large balcony and a fullsize kitchen with a dishwasher, we were in a deluxe 1 bedroom. The housekeeping were great and would wash our dishes and put them away! Which was a nice touch... So I would highly recommend it. We did stop by and visit Desert Pearl and it is a beautiful hotel but the pool was overrun and it did felt very crowded... We would absolutely stay here again.

We were traveling with our 2 children, (5 and 8). It was great for children. There were lots of children there from all ages ranges from toddlers to teenagers. On a 10 day trip it was nice to have a 1 bedroom suite. The kids slept on a pullout bed in the living room, it was a queen size with a nice mattress.
