DC Prime Tourist Time - Hotel Deals?

We are flying into DC Sept 6th (late) and are departing Sept 10th. I was wondering if since our arrival is after the Labor Day holiday we might get price breaks on hotels? I know that the weather starts to get a little cooler there in Sept, so the thought that tourism picks up going into September occurred to me. This is my first trip in a loooong time, hence the obsessing!

I have been toying on Priceline & not won anything yet (too far out obviously) but am kind on interested to know if that'll be a "prime time" where even Priceline might not help.....

I have a "backup" booking at the Marriott Conv Center @ $169/night which I don't think is bad for that hotel, but a cheaper hotel room = better dinners out!!

Thanks for all thoughts & for the help already received!

While the tourists go away by that point, post Labor Day is when the business travel picks up again, especially if Congress is in session.

The tourists will be gone, back to school, etc. Congress would be coming back that week, I think. Still, it wouldn't be prime time. You picked a good time to visit.

Actually, The Marriot Courtyard Convention Center at $169/night is a fantastic deal. It is a nice hotel in an excellent location and at a very steep discount. I wouldn't change a thing.

WOO HOO! I was hoping there might be a bit of a break. Most business types would stay downtown or in the Convention Center area, right? So Dupont will probably be a little easier!

Excellent!

Sorry bardo1, I was posting as you were. I know that $169 is a great rate, but I was really trying to be around $100 for the hotel, given the steeper taxes on rooms in DC.

So, I am going to try Priceline & see what happens. If I can get a decent hotel in Dupont for 80-100, I am going to go that route.

Business types also stay in DuPont. You may get something on Priceline, but you have a good rate if you don't.
