D.C. L'Enfant or Omni Hotel?
#2
It's nice to have some good choices.
The Omni is a half block from a metro stop and a shorter taxi ride than the other hotel to Georgetown and other nightlife.
I think I'd take the Loew's hotel. You can walk to the Mall, Smithsonian, Holocaust Museum. I couldn't find a mention of the metro on their webpage, but there is a L'Enfant Plaza stop.
Then again, the Omni says it's a half block from the Woodley Park/Zoo/Adams Morgan metro stop. It could be (marginally) more convenient to metro. Probably more activity in the neighborhood at night.

Both hotels provide easy access to Metro, with a slight edge for L'Enfant because it is served by several lines, while Woodley has only one.
The Omni shoreham is a very good location for evening strolling to restaurants and shops, along Connecticut Ave and in Adams Morgan.
L'Enfant Plaza is a wasteland at night, as it is surrounded by government office buildings, though it is a quick subway ride to the Gallery Place-Chinatown cluster of restaurants, a few of which are Chinese.

I would stay at the Omni. It's a wonderful neighborhood and there are good restaurants nearby and in Adams Morgan, which is a short cab ride. I work near L'Enfant Plaza; I think you'd be happier wandering around at night near the Omni.

stay at the Omni, no question whatsoever. The L'Enfant Plaza is an okay hotel but in a terrible location. I wouldn't stay there except on business or something. Only exception is if you have kids and just want to walk to a few museums and never go anywhere or do anything at night

I guess it depends on if you're traveling with children or not. I've never stayed at the Washington Omni but Loews has a really great rooftop pool. Nicely landscaped, refreshment bar--it's a nice break on a typical hot Washington summer day. We liked Loews because it was convenient to the museums, etc. around the mall. The metro is literally right at the door so getting around to restaurants, etc. isn't a problem. On the other hand, my experience with Omni hotels in general has always been positive...
