We're invited to a reunion to take place at a friend's beach condo in Rehoboth Beach. We'd be flying from Manchester NH on Southwest and could fly into Baltimore or Phila, and then rent a car. Any opinions on which airport would be better, taking into consideration whether one or the other presents an easier or less congested drive after the flight?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Gail
Closest airport to Rehoboth Beach?

hi gailw: it's almost six of one and half-dozen of the other time-wise, but Philly would get my vote because it is on the same side of the Chesapeake Bay and you wouldn't have to go over the Bay Bridge where weekend traffic can be a problem.
Expect you've done this already but check directions (I did google). You can get on rte. 1 or 13 from Philly so have a second route if traffic is bad. From BWI, rte. 50/301 go to the bridge and there isn't a reasonable alternative (unless you go to Baltimore and over and down and that's too much longer.)
Have a great reunion. Did you see the post about HS ones???
Dudette: I've just started doing some research -- my friend just emailed me with the invite a couple of days ago -- but looking at a map, I'd come to the same thought about being on the same side of the Chesapeake Bay (I know my friend has written bitterly of terrible traffic on some bridge or other). I just thought I'd try to figure out the better airport before I moved forward in the planning process.
Thanks for the good wishes about the reunion. We're three college friends who met the 1st day of our freshman year, 45 years ago!!! Seems impossible. I haven't seen the post about high school reunions (which I've actually never been to) but I'll look. Is it on this forum? I don't come here often, usually browse and post on the Europe forum.
Thanks much for your advice.

Ocean City Municipal Airport, just south in Maryland.
George: do they have commercial flights to/from Ocean City? Never heard of it, but that doesn't mean anything...
Salisbury MD also has an airport which is closer than PHL, but I doubt you get fares as good as PHL.
PHL usually is a little over a 2 hour drive (with no traffic)to Rehoboth. Take 95S to 495S("beltway" around Wilmington)to Route 1 South in Delaware. Get EZPass in your rental if you can - Route 1 has 2 tolls - 65 mph with EZ Pass. Traffic on Saturdays in the summer can be brutal as will any holiday weekend - so your travel time could vary widely.
gail, I didn't mention the Salisbury/OC (not sure if it's the same-sorry) because I too thought of it as a local "puddle jumper". George, am I wrong? Could gail rent a car there?
If BWI has a connecting flight, that could work.
Again, have a great time. Oh, yes, the reunion thread is on Fodor's under the Lounge forum.
