Clearwater Hotel

My wife and I are looking for a hotel on Jan. 27 - Jan. 29 from Clearwater to Dunedin. On the beach or up to 20 minutes away(we do have a car)....Are plans are Caladesi Island State Park and Honeymoon Island...Any recommendations on where to stay would help or any experience you had in Clearwater or the State Parks..

We live in Tampa, so I'm sorry to say I have no lodging advice whatsoever, but Honeymoon and Caladesi are my two favorite parks in the area. I hope you enjoy them! Fort DeSoto gets more press and is also lovely, but the trails and kayaking are IMO not as great.
Definitely kayak from Honeymoon to Caladesi, it's an easy paddle, and unless you're glued to the beach, check out the inland trail on Honeymoon, you can see all kinds of birds and critters very easily.

We have stayed at a place in Treasure Island called "The Sands" for over 20 years. It isn't fancy, but is clean and very reasonably priced. Lots of snowbirds stay here every year. Great family type atmosphere. On a great piece of beach, nice pool. It was built in the 1940's and it feels much like you just stepped out of the atomic age...but I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else.

When I go to this area for business, I alwasy enjoy staying at the Renaissance Vinoy.

AAA rate for your dates looks like 232/nite
