Cincinnati Airport food/drink

Delta *nicely* changed our flights, which I then had to change so we'd make connecting flights.

Anyway, we will have a layover of almost 2 hours at CVG. Hubby and I were interested in going to the Bluegrass Brewing Co. in Concourse C. Will we have enough time for lunch? Will have to go on one of the shuttles to get there? (We'll be in Terminal 3, from what I can see on the airport's website).

I figure if we're sticking around for that long that we might as well make it worthwhile (we're microbrew geeks ;-)).

Thanks for the help!

~Nancy

Yes, you have to take a shuttle (bus) from the main terminal to terminal C. It doesn't take long. If you don't have this website, it has more info than the delta one.

http://www.cvgairport.com/

There are bars/restaurants in A and B also, so you could decide on the time factor when you get there -- if you have a 2 hour layover (and are arriving and departing from terminal 3), I wouldn't think you would have any problem going to Concourse C for lunch.

Just wanted to chime in about how great the Cincy airport is for food.

They have done a fantastic job with their "food court" area! It is convenient, central, and it comes complete with a variety of familiar chains and reasonable prices (when compared with other airports).

Though I don't know of the spot you're asking about, I would suspect that if it represents an upgrade from the standard mall-type cuisine available in the middle of the Cincy airport then it will be all that you anticipate.

Enjoy !!

I don't know if you are familiar with or interested in trying Cincinnati Chili, but there is a Gold Star in the Delta Terminal (B). It is a very unusual treat if you haven't had it before. This is in the food court so it is nothing fancy, but a true staple in this area and worth a try!

Thanks so much for all the info! This is a first time for us into this particular airport (not that we fly a heck of lot, anyway).

One other question: Our flight from ABE into CVG gives us only 30 minutes to get to the connecting flight (also Delta). Is there going to be enough time to make it? This wasn't a problem when I first purchased the tickets (there was at least 50 minutes between connecting flights), but since Delta futzed with the times...now I'm wondering if it *could* be a problem.

BTW, there's a later flight, but we'd rather leave sooner than later to (eventually) get to Las Vegas!

Again, thanks for all your help and suggestions!

I am DEFINITELY not an expert on this, so can only give you my opinion. If both flights are Delta (not Delta Connections, which probably would entail a trip by bus to or from Concourse C which will take more time), and you are only going from one gate to another, I would think 30 minutes would be sufficient. We have had 30 minutes between flights a couple of times when booking our itinerary through Delta on line (in Salt Lake and Atlanta) and have made the flights without a problem. (and I think these are bigger airports) This, of course, assumes that there is no problem with weather, etc. There have also been times when we have arrived in Cincinnati (our destination) and they have let people off first who have time problems with connecting flights. They know who is connecting, with which flight, time, etc. and usually tell you which gate you will want to go to while still in the air. (They even announced once that for passengers connecting with a certain flight to New York, they were holding that flight since we had a late arrival). As far as I know, all Delta fights come and go from Terminal 3 on the same concourse. I'm not sure what happens if you arrive really late and totally miss your flight.

I would be pouting if only given 30 minutes to spend between flights in the Cincinnati airport!

Not that you can't MAKE your flight, but I'd hate to have to scurry right past their way-cool food court.

Last time I was there I didn't really have THAT much time to afford, but I ate at Chick-Fil-A and then SCURRIED to the plane and was the last person to board (along about the time they said "last call...").

If you miss your flight in Cincy... don't fret.

Although I would go to the Delta website the day before and pretend that you were buying a ticket on that later flight, JUST TO ASSESS how many seats were still available, in case it might help your confidence when the day arrives.

Check the schedule just as you get to the airport. Make sure your flight from ABE is not scheduled as late. If you don't have at least 20 minutes to connect, they aren't supposed to put you on that first flight. They are supposed to make new arrangements for you, with a departure within 2 hours of your original schedule. Even if this means putting you onto another airline. You might check beforehand to see what schedules other airlines have that day, so that you're prepared with a backup plan and can tell Delta that you know your rights, and this is the schedule that you'd like to try for.
This usually doesn't apply if "weather" is the cause of your first leg being late.

Thank you all for your replies!

I'm going to print this out and take it with me, just in case.

I'd hate to bypass the food court, but I think my hubby would have a heart attack if I tried to slip away and pick up something. ;-)

Again, many thanks!
