Charleston tours: Gullah, Food, or Sunset cruise
Everyone gave me such great Charleston info on my last question, I thought I'd ask one more!
DH and I will be in Charleston next weekend and want to take one tour. We have ruled out the carriage tours and instead would like to try either the Gullah tour, the culinary tour (http://www.carolinafoodpros.com/tours/), or a sunset cruise (http://www.zerve.com/SailThePride/Sunset). Has anyone taken these? What is your opinion of them?
Thanks!

I looked at both tours and I'm kind of iffy about the Culinary tours.
Firstly, I looked at both and neither description tells you which restaurants they tour. The second one is in someone's home.
I think the harbor tour would be good only if you aren't doing Fort Sumter. If you aren't doing Fort Sumter, skip both tours and do it.
Thirdly, I cannot remember her name but [email protected] is one of the best tour guides around.
Lastly, have you looked online to see if Charleston Cooks! is offering something local? If so, jump all over that.

Here you go.
http://www.mavericksouthernkitchens....s/classes.html
Charleston Cooks! is owned by the same people who own SNOB, Post House, and High Cotton offers an Introduction to the Low Country cooking class.
I highly suggest you sign up for it. The above are three of the best restaurants in Charleston.

Another thing I just thought of.
There really isn't such a thing as Gullah food if anyone tries to pitch you on that.
Gullah is a way of life and a language of the Low Country slaves that stems from their African roots and being thrown into British Colonial customs. Gullah food would have been whatever was leftover from the plantation house slaughters combined with as much seafood, rice, and grits the slaves wanted. You really don't want to eat chitlins, pigs feet and brains.
