Canadian SOS for Advice re NJ Holiday!
Help! We're from Toronto and planning a family holiday in New Jersey in August with a 17 and 14 year old (while the kids are home between stretches at camp!) as we were told NJ has some great beaches--but could use some advice re a good town/city to stay in. Ideally, would like to be close to other activities that a couple of active teenagers (and their middleaged parents!) might be interested in, just in case the weather is less than ideal. Accommodations suggestions also welcome--preferably a nice resort hotel or perhaps suites. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

Hi margola,
Two suggestions for you: Ocean City, NJ. Nice place, lots of teens, very good beach, long boardwalk which includes a water park. The town itself is dry (no beer, no liquor) but there are plenty of opportunities to the west, north, and south so find all you want. OC has a good reputation with families.
The other would be Wildwood Crest. Huge and very safe beach, lots of lodging of all types. The Crest is also dry but Wildwood and North Wildwood, nearby are not. Wildwood has a very active boardwalk with some attractions for just about everyone. Guests from all over are drawn to the Wildwoods so there will be lots of teens for yours to meet. Compared to OC, there is probably more going on in the Wildwoods, both good and bad.

Hello margola,
We are staying at Wildwood Crest in August with our 18 & 14 year old. This is our first time staying at Wildwood. We are staying at the Adventurer Oceanfront Inn (www.adventurerinn.com) in a 2 bd/2ba Efficiency. It's right on the beach, at the end of the boardwalk. A couple of great resources for me were www.wildwoodsnj.com and www.wildwoods.com. The beaches in Wildwood are free.
I hope you have a great time wherever you go in New Jersey.

Hi fellow Canadian,
I am also from Toronto and planning a trip with my family to New Jersey in July. We are going to Wildwood Crest I remember going as a young adult and have so much fun. Now I would like my kids, (not quite teenagers yet) and husband to experience it. I enjoy going walking along the boardwalk in the evenings, take a drive to Cape May. So I hope this helps.
