Block Island, RI - Aug Vac. -Rose Farm Inn
Hello...I've been trying to dig up more info on Rose Farm Inn on Block Island (besides the one page website that they offer). Or even Block Island itself.. have found info to be limited out there. My husband is taking me for my 30th. =) He pays...I plan... =)
Has anyone stayed at the Rose Farm Inn? How are the accomodations, experience of the stay, the innkeepers, location of the inn...walking distance to the beaches and action?
Also looking for suggestions on Block Island, recommendations on fine dining, casual dining, shops.....what is a must see/do while there. Also I tried to find a good map of the island....found one that's pretty good..but would like to have a little more of a selection....
Or if you know of any other websites other than blockisland.com, blockislandchamber.com, blockislandinfo.com...and the rhodeisland websites.
Is it me or is there really not many websites with detailed info?
Thanks....any input would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day.

Sharon,
I just did a search thru www.google.com and came up with following -
http://www.ultranet.com/block-island/
http://www.blockisland.com/
http://www.blockisland.com/webcam/
http://www.blockislandinfo.com/
http://www.blockislandchamber.com/
http://www.blockislandtimes.com/
It looks like a lovely getaway. Despite growing up in New England, I've never been there.

Don't know how much time you have before your trip, but if you haven't already checked the "official" RI website, do so. http://visitrhodeisland.com You'll get a pop up which you can complete to get materials in the mail. Alternatively they do have a downloadable map.
Block Island is very tiny. You won't need a car. They rent bikes and motor scooters there, but if you can bring your own bikes, do so.
I've only seen the Rose Farm Inn from the outside, and it looks pleasand enough. The location is gorgeous, at the summit of a hill with sweeping views of the ocean and the historic lighthouse.
Block Island has very limited dining options, most of the surf and turf variety. A notable exception is the dining room at the Hotel Manisses, which, incidentally is very close to the Rose Farm Inn. Check it out at digitalcity.com following the Providence links, and make reservations for your birthday dinner as soon as you can.

Thanks to both of you!!!
(I actualy have looked at the block island websites, All excpt the ultranet...it was thoughtful of you to do a search on my behalf. =) Thanks!)
The visitrhodeisland site is one I will check out....especially to receive the brochures in the mail. Thanks for the great info on the island..especially on dining!
I appreciate it!
On another note, I don't know why I didn't try this before but I found some great info on AOL with reviews and ratings about the beaches, restaurants, some inns, etc.
Thanks!
