fun dining in Key Largo/ Marco Island
We are heading to Key Largo for a week after 9 days in Disney with our 2 daughters under 5 years old. We plan to sneak in some diving and hanging out. Any suggestions for fun places for lunches and dinners with the kids. Nothing like chuckie cheese but fun pizza, bbq, burgers etc. Thanks!
OK I might as well ask now...we are then heading to Marco Island for another week. Any suggestions there?
Thanks

Key Largo will be loads more exciting than Marco...you can enjoy both, assuming you selected these spots for what they are..I think many places in the Keys become fun because of the people and the ambiance. ONce you cross the Dade County line into the Keys the pace, style of dress, music, social pressures change drastically. Go to local places and hang out...don't rush anything in the Keys or you'll miss the fun.
THe fun part of the Keys is out at the reefs or on a boat. There's nothing to do on land besides get drunk and....Jimmy Buffet world remember.
Marco, I find terribly boring but I can't stand being more than 10 minutes on the beach. Millions of visitors do enjoy it so I'm sure you'll have fun if you're intending to spend time on the beach.

....well, i don't know about fun...but try Snappers.....it's off of US1 so you can't see it from the road but theres a sign on the left side (ocean side) of the road. the foods not 4-star but the basics are good. sit outside overlooking the marina....theres a school of hugh tarpon that hang out at the dock near the coin operated fish food machine. this place can be difficult to find so ask around.
also check out....i think it's called the hideout....at jules verne undersea lodge. this is the place that has the underwater motel and it's a research facility with some interesting stuff around the property..... also on the oceanside and off of US1. i know its open for breakfast/lunch....don't know about dinner.

We stay in Naples quite a bit and usually go to the Snook Inn when we head over to Marco. It is on the water, very casual, they usually have live music which the kids seem to enjoy. You might also consider going to Naples to eat if you are looking for something a little nicer.

Joanne,
We just got back from a dive trip to Key Largo. We had a great time. We dove with It's a Dive and stayed at the Marriott, both were great. The visibility wasn't as good as the Caribbean, but we saw more sea life. It's a Dive takes divers and snorkelers on the same boat - one of you could dive while the other stays on the boat with the girls or snorkel with them if they're up to it.
We ate at the Fish House several times, it was our favorite. Really casual and fun with all kinds of lights on the ceiling and fish on the walls. Great seafood.

My husband and I ate at Sundowners which was mostly seafood. It was good and there were several families there. I don't think a week is too long, as far as what one poster said. If you like to dive/snorkel than you will have a good time. If you have a car you have got to drive to Key West, the drive is beautiful and Key West is fun.
