Has anyone stayed at the Ramada Inn Treasure Island? Any suggestions appreciated!

Thanks -

Trish, I am thinking about booking there tonight ... I'm sorry there are no responses to your question.

Maybe if someone could just let us know if it's in a good location, etc....

This is a great location (especially because the yummy Shake Shop is right next to it, which you will discover). The beach is beautiful here, one of the nicest spots on Treasure Island in my opinion. From the outside this Ramada Inn looks fine, but I've uncovered some nasty reviews on the internet. They mostly said it was dirty and that the staff was discourteous. I was surprised to read that as I have been inside the lobby and it looked fine.

Be forewarned.

Ditto what Tandoori Girl has said. Two days ago I met "cd", another Fodorite vacationing (right now) on Treasure Island. Beware the Tahitian Inn: she and her husband said they took one look at this shabby icky place and said no way, even though they had a monthlong reservation, and had to give up their deposit. They ended up just south of the main TI area at the Island Inn - for just a little more per night. They have an oceanfront efficiency in this six story "condo hotel". Beach is beautiful here too. They said that each unit is individually owned and furnished accordingly. Check it out! BTW I had breakfast brunch at Ramada about two months ago...it seemed clean, staff was nice, food was just okay.

Thanks for the responses about the Ramada Inn. The location appears to be perfect for us - good spot for the beach and the Shake Shop (a must to check out)so I think we'll go ahead and book for 3 nights.

We're also thinking about booking 3 nights at the Belleview Biltmore (so hubby can do some golfing). Any comments on the Biltmore?

What are "must dos" in the St. Pete/Treasure Island/Clearwater area? Where are the "must eats"? We've got tickets to see a spring training baseball game in Dunedin one day -- any other suggestions? Have done the theme parks already, so not interested in that kind of entertainment.

Many thanks...
