BI - Hilton Waikoloa Village or Marriott Waikoloa?
I'm considering both of these properties for a 4 night stay in October. Which is nicer in terms of beach, rooms, service and food? I can get a pretty decent rate at both properties. We are in our early 30's with no kids.

We have previously stayed at the Outrigger Waikoloa Beach Marriott for ~$200/nite and though it was a good value. Across the street (walking distance) from the Marriott are the Kings shops which are a bargain compared to hotel prices. I think the Hilton Waikoloa has more activities to offer including a dolphin interaction and also was recently listed in the top 10 resorts of all resorts throughout Hawaii.
The Marriott has a natural sandy crescent beach known as A-Bay in front of it which has decent snorkeling and occassional turtles. The Hilton has a man made lagoon (have not snorkeled there yet), some call the Hilton "Hawaii's Disneyworld. If the best pricing you get is about the same for both resorts, I would choose the Hilton. In our experience we found rooms to be about $100 more per night at the Hilton vs Marriott. It is possible to walk along the coast 15-20 minutes from Hilton to the Marriott and snorkel in A-Bay and use the beach.
You will be fine at either resort.

We stayed at teh Outrigger and loved the hotel and our room. It's also located on a beautiful sandy bay which is unusual for that area. We did visit the Hilton for a drink but it was much too massive for us. We like the quiet at the beach swinign in our hammocks.

We are staying at the Hilton in the beginning of October for part of our honeymoon. We just got th edeluxe ocean view for $220 anight plus tax. We were told it may not be filled with kids at that time because they just went back to school. It supposivly has a lot of activities if you are looking for that.

The Hilton doesn't have a beach unless you count the manmade lagoon. The Marriott fronts A-Bay which is a light brownish sand, fairly uncrowded crescent beach. The atmosphere at the Marriott is much more relaxed, tropical while the Hilton is more 'Disneylandish'.

Outrigger/Marriott. Exceeded my expectations, very nice beach and grounds, and had an excellent restaurant. Hawaiian feel, not Disneyland. Beware that there is construction adjacent to one side of the hotel and ask for a room away from the construction.
