Best shows in Branson?

I know Branson is controversial on this site but - my family is going there the end of August. We would like to see a show. Does anyone have a recommendation? There are so many to choose from.

Jim Stafford's show is great and I would also recommend Shoji Tabuji (not sure about the spelling there). In general, I'm not a big fan of Branson Music Shows; but I enjoyed these two. Silver Dollar City is also a good place to go with kids. The rest of Branson is pretty much a tourist trap. Lots of Putt-Putt golf, go-cart tracks, gift shops, etc. Motel rooms are reasonable. Food is okay. Eureka Springs, AK is about an hour away. It is a very unique little town with great scenery and antique shops. There's a good French restaurant there called Chez Charles, but it is pricey.

Heather, you are right - Branson is considered unfashionable and gauche on this site.

My hubby and I totally enjoyed it!!!!!

Have been twice and seen about a dozen shows. Favorites -- Bobby Vinton, Andy Williams, Shoji Tabuchi, liked Silver Dollar City. Country Tonight is exceptional. All shows we saw were very good.

Branson is rather like Las Vegas, but without the sleaze. Everyone I know that has visited Branson has enjoyed it, and I hope you do too. Happy trails. Marie

I took my parents there last year and it was the longest five days of my life. Tacky and a little too country/western AND senior citizen-oriented. Heather, I feel for you!

Heather--we enjoyed Shoji Kabuchi (sp?) and I know someone that recently went to the Dixie Stampede (Dolly Parton's show) and liked that.

How can it be TOO country/western when it is the country/western show capital? CW is the reason for its existance!

Gatlinberg is the poor man's Branson.
Branson: brown teeth, Gatlinberg: no teeth
B: kissin cousins, G: married cousins
B: NASCAR lovers, G: still learnin how to spell NASCAR
B: tourist trap, G: possum trap (them possum's a goood eatin'!)
B: plenty of roadside eats, G: plenty of roadside eatin' (no sense lettin' that perfectly good roadkill go to waste....it all tastes the same mixed into possum stew).

We recently saw Jim Stafford on a sold-out Thursday evening where four tour buses of high school students were enjoying the show as much as the senior citizens, many who can not vacation unless they go on a tour without much walking. Shoji Tabuchi is probably the top rated show.(plus you have the women's opulent restroom with orchids at each lavatory and a pooltable in the men's) Neither is Country Western. Choose lodging off Hwy 76 because traffic moves slowly most of the time and new alternate routes get you around the city quickly. Most are surprised how large the area is.
Silver Dollar City is fun, lots of trees and flowers. Most of the favorite rides get you bathtub wet so keep your billfold in a Ziplock bag.
We never miss having a meal at Big Cedar Lodge, south of Branson, because of the good food and beautiful Ozark setting. The museum at the College of the Ozarks is interesting (as is the college, itself) and the information center at Table Rock Dam is a scenic stop. You can certainly have an upscale vacation in Branson, but be aware that your kids may enjoy some of the "Tacky"!!! Go--at least, once.

I have a great appreciation for talent that entertains for decades and never launched into recording work because live performances is their passion.

My husband and I love to go to Branson. We just returned from a 4-day visit this past weekend. Some of our favorites are the Liverpool Legends (Beatles tribute band), the Eagles tribute band, SIX, the Hagoods, IT, Clay Cooper, the Rankin Brothers, the Duttons, and the Texas Tenors. A good bbq place is Dana's and a beautiful place to stay is Chateau on the Lake on Tablerock Lake.
