Yes! Depending on how much time you have, of course.
Banff and Jasper definitely because, if you don't go close to Jasper you will miss much scenery, the glacier, Athabasca Falls, Lake Louise area, Peyto and much wildlife. I consider those two points a part of the same trip.

Banff and Jasper - most definitely. They are both gorgeous areas. You'll find a lot to do, as well. Make sure to bring your camera... there's a lot of beauty and animal wildlife you won't want to forget.

First, which Glacier do you mean? US or Canada?
Of the various attractions out there, the Icefields Parkway from Lake Louise to Jasper is at the top of the list.
There are only 3 places along the route that offer overnight accommodations, other than a couple of hostels and campgrounds. These are the Num Ti Jah Lodge, the Icefields Chalet at the Icefields Center, and a motel at a settlement called The Crossing.
There are some places south of Jasper as well near Athabasca Falls.
The drive can be done in one day, but it is a long day if you stop often, which is very tempting. Of attraction to many people is the ice coach ride onto the Athabasca Glacier at the Icefields Center.

If you get to Banff you are at Jasper also. In fact the sign on the IceFields Parkway (93) between the two has Welcome to Banff on one side and Welcome to Jasper on the other. Do both, and if time permits Glacer NP.

When we did our tour in 2000 we stayed 3 days in Jasper then down the Columbia icefields to Banff(breathtaking) and stayed three days in Banff. There's so much to see. We then crossed Yoho and followed the Comumbia valley and stayed at Waterton lakes(Canadian side of Glacier. The next day we did the going to the sun road in Glacier N. Park WONDERFUL.Try to take the time, dont rush.Paul
