Any experience with Longboat Key Club

Just looking for opinions on Long Boat Key Club. Has anyone stayed there? How was the beach? The rooms?

I've stayed a couple of times, The condos are large with good sized bedrooms and bathrooms. We had ocean front lanais that were great. The sugar sand beach is lovely. I think it is the nicest place in Sarasota. HG

Well it isn't in Sarasota, but on the barrier island which is Long Boat Key. I haven't been there in ages jillg, but if you look at their website it still seems quite lovely.

I was just there in January and can highly recommend it. Lovely quiet beach, very good food, nice rooms and easy drive to downtown Sarasota and ? circle - I forget the name but the spot with all the restaurants and shops...

are the "condos" owned by the hotel or are they privately owned by individuals? I called the hotel and they only have their "club suites" available. They look beautiful on the website, but I just want to be sure.

The Longboat Key Club is most likely more like a country club on the waterfront. The beaches on Longboat are like talcum powder and absolutely beautiful. There are two golf courses on Longboat Key and both are within the Key Club and they're both quite pricey.

Some of the nicest shopping and restaurant hopping can be done on St Armands Circle. It's a hopping place with Columbia, Tommy Bahama, Fin and Claw, Hemingways, you can find most anything you'd like to eat here.

Longboat Key is a barrier island just off Sarasota and quite easy to reach. Many people fall in love with the island and just keep returning (like me).

like many hotels in florida, the two bedroom and club suites are individually owned and are put in the hotel leasing program and rented out. Owners typically stay a few weeks or months of the year. It is very well maintained and the units are required to be refurbished on a certain schedule at the individual owners expense.
