airport hotel Milwaukee ?
early flight out of Milwaukee airport.. looking for an airport hotel. I assume none are actually *in* the airport and I have to take a shuttle ? (I will probably turn in the rental the night before to save time).
Any recommendations ? I don't need a waterpark (Holiday Inn Express) as we will only use it as a place to sleep and I've heard it can be loud there....
clean is a big priority

thanks travelbuff, I've found the list of hotels.
I find, however, that personal recommendations (as personal as they can be on a anonymous posting board) are better than going off the googled list.
fodors recommendations have served me well in the past.

You are correct that there aren't any hotels in/attached to the Milwaukee airport. Any at around 4750-4850 S. Howell Ave would be the closest to the airport entrance. Because I live in Milwaukee, I've never stayed at an airport hotel, but I've been to conferences at the Sheraton Four Points, and it was nice.

Three years ago we were going to Milwaukee for a Brewers game. It happened to be the weekend of one of their big festivals. The only room we were able to find was at the AmeriSuites Milwaukee/Airport. It wound up working out very well! It's a nice hotel (we're, of course, not talking 5 star here, but nice as inexpensive chains go), quiet, convenient and there were restaurants nearby. And the breakfast was good!
As I said, that was three years ago, but we paid $99 for our family of four in a room with a king bed and a king sleeper sofa. Also a fridge and a microwave.

we ended up at the Clarion - it was truly at the entrance to the airport and if there were sidewalks, I would have walked back after dropping off the rental.
The lobby is not impressive, but our room was nice - decent linens, bath, etc. I had low expectations, which were surpassed.
We came down in the am to take the shuttle and the driver took us + one other passenger - took about 15/20 minutes round trip, so if you missed him then, you caught him on the way back.
overall, I would go back. For a clean place, I would recommend it.
