2-1/2 year old -Land of Make Believe
My wife and I are looking to take our 2-1/2 year old daughter somewhere this summer. We live on Long Island, NY. Somebody mentioned to me the Land of Make Believe. Any comments, opinions, etc.? What about Sesame Place or Dutch Wonderland in PA, or anywhere else? Thanks.

2-1/2 is young for all the atractions mentioned, as well as most other parks. Of course I am sure your child - just like mine - is very precocious and develpoed beyond her years...BUT it'll be a waste of your time and money and nerves. At that age she won;t know whether she is in a wading pool in the back yard or the Caribbean - and will tire of either quite quickly.

I also have a 2 1/2 year old and we took him to Disneyworld this past June. Some people on this site criticize as a waste of money & because my son will not remember it. But I will tell you, I will remember it and he enjoyed every minute we were there. We went to Daytona Beach & he loved the waves, and putt-putt golf. We were at WDW for 5 days. We liked the shows, parade, breakfasts with Cinderella & Mickey Mouse, swimming every afternoon, fireworks, and he really liked the rides (Dumbo, Pooh, Peter Pan, Buzz Lightyear...
Having said all that, this may be the last chance you have to go somewhere that YOU want to go, and your daughter will probably go along fine. (I took my son to San Francisco last year.) But, if you think it will be fun to take her to a park, then go ahead and do it. Or combine the trip into somewhere for both of you. They are only young once.
By the way, (I guess I'm bored) you can get airfare on Delta to WDW for under $200/ticket in Sep, which is value season, rooms at WDW are as low as $59/night, just in case you would think about it!!
Have a wonderful vacation!

I agree, go somewhere you and your wife want to visit. Where ever you go there are parks and children's musuems and places to visit that are fun.
As a first time parent all the kids stuff is fun but don't get burnt out too quickly. YOu will!
Listen to your question you want to take your 2-1/2 year old somewhere....
My boys have been to museums, parks, all over but they were part of a trip to Boston, San Francisco, New Hampshire, Grand Canyon, Durango, etc..the activities were planned with them in mind but we also got to see and do stuff we enjoyed.
Disney with a young child is magic but you can have wonderful experiences many places with a toddler, except a fancy restaurant.
