What should I bring on flight?
My family will be travelling to Orlando via Chicago in early Dec. I am just wondering what I should bring along on my flight. I have a 4 hour layover at Chicago Int'l Airport and am not sure if I need a heavy jacket which I don't think I will need when I arrive at Orlando? I am travelling from Singapore and this is our first trip to Orlando.

If you're staying inside the airport, there is absolutely NO NEED for a heavy jacket. However, you do want to have something warm for the flights. Unless you're flying First class or Business class, the US Domestic flights do not offer blankets in economy and it can be a bit chilly on the plane.
Also, most US domestic airlines do not offer free food on their flights (with a few exceptions), so your best bet would be grabbing something to eat during your layover at the Chicago airport. And if you're someone who needs lots of hydration on a flight, you are better off buying bottled water before getting on your flight (BUT after security check). The US airlines are a bit stringent with beverages.

Nyetzy, I would suggest bringing along a "fleece" type jacket. It will keep you warm on the plane/airport.
Once in Orlando, you should also get some use out of it. It can be a bit chilly in the winter here. You will be happy you have it especially in the mornings and evenings. Once the sun comes out and warms things up, it should a beautiful day.

Hey, thanks guys. Do the domestic airlines allow bought food on board in cases where food and beverages are not served? I have a direct flight from Orlando to SF on UA.
So, it is possible to get bottled water after security checks at the airports.

Yes, you can bring your own food onto the flights. Just make sure you buy your drinks AFTER going thru security.
I don't know UA's policy, but most domestic airlines will SELL you snack or sandwiches on the flight, but don't count on that solely because they can run out before the flight attendants get to your row.

In general you can bring your own food on board. I would avoid anything that could be considered a gel (like yogurt) - some TSA agents think this is a problem, others don't - and you don't know which agent you'll get.
In every airport we've been to, we've been able to get water etc after security checks.
