Can photos be printed from slideshow CD's/DVD's?

I want to save travel photos on cd's & dvd's and be able to print from them later if I want. I print many soon after the trips, but may want to do some later. If I use a software program to make a slideshow of a trip, could this be used to print photos from it?

oooo - I need the answer to this!!! My older son was given a CD/DVD of a slideshow from their class trip to Tanzania. There are some great photos of him that I want to print and don't know if I can.

Yes, of course.

As long as you can isolate the photos on the slideshow, you can save them to your computer and then print them.

Sometimes the files are labeled individually on the disc, other times you will have to pause the picture, right click it, and save the image, then print.

If you are talking about 4x6 prints, then yes, it should be no problem. Most likely the slideshow prints are in JPEG format and can easily be printed.

However, if you want larger prints than 4x6, you may need to check out whether the images on the slideshow CD have a high enough resolution (more pixels) for a good enlargement.

One of the things to check would be to "open" up the cds files and see if you can locate each individual jpg.

If not, then I agree with Andrew, many pics are good for 4X6 size, but for a larger and better quality print, you need to be able to have the hq pic file itself.

Make sure you back up your digital photos...either to an external harddrive, or portable storage devices, cds, etc.

And select the highest quality on your camera for taking images. You never know when you might get that great photo and then realize you can only print a 2" x 4"!! Very frustrating.

the slide show uses a compressed format to save your pictures, in order to display them faster, and to make the full show fit on the CD...at least this is the case with many of the software packages out there. You should really save simple copies of your pictures, in their full, highest resolution format on an archive CD and use this to print from later.
