Where in Afghanistan Were These Pictures Were Taken?
Can anyone who has been to Afghanistan identify where these three pictures were taken? I think the "city" photo is Kabul but it could have been Khandahar. The picture is very poor quality but there is writing on the signs that might help. Same with the picture of the old man. The photo of the children was taken somewhere in Afghanistan but it could have been anywhere since we drove overland across the entire country. So much for not labeling pictures and then trying to remember where they were taken many, many years later.
Thanks for any ideas/thoughts on this.

TTT in case these photos might be familiar to someone. It's a long shot, I realize. Also, further complicating things is the fact that it's possible that the photo of the children was taken in rural Iran on the way to Afghanistan.

Good luck on this task, as the backgrounds seem very generic. Do you have contact sheets or negatives from your prints or slides that show the order they were taken in? That may be your one clue, if you can identify the photos taken immediately before or after.

If these photos are from a digital camera it should have "exif" data on them. Exif data contain the photo's information, date, time (as per the date and time set on your digital camera) and some will have GPS location as well as other information.

Also, the link you have provided for the photos contain very "small" or low resolution version of them and if you want people to read the signs in the background, you should upload a high resolution version if possible.

Thanks, Kathie and Hanuman. These photos were taken way before digital existed. I scanned hard copies of the few pictures that I still have from this trip. I am most curious about the children because I imagine that their dress might provide some clues.
