Best Travel Vehicle for Family of 4

My husband and I are driving 9 hours to Yosemite with a 13 year old boy and a 14 year old girl. What type of vehicle is the best for the long drive? My husband is hesitant of renting or driving a camper. He thinks it may be too awkward to drive. We were thinking of renting a van. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you!

OK - you have left out important details

Why do you think you might need a van or camper?

Are you flying in and need a rental car? Or are you driving from home?

If you are driving from home and own a car . . . then take that car. There is no need for a specialty vehicle to visit Yosemite. (I've visited YNP in everything from a 15 yo junker, to a motorcycle to a Chevy family sedan to a 4wd to a 2 seat mini cooper roadster.)

If you are flying in and need to rent a car -- just rent whatever size vehicle you would normally rent.

Are you just talking about a vehicle for a 9 hour drive? That's not long at all. Anything with 4 seats will do the trick.

First of all, 9 hours is not that long. Secondly, our family of four has never needed a super-large vehicle. Any full-size vehicle will do. Last time we rented, we had a Jeep Liberty. It was plenty large for 4.

Thank you all for your replies.
We are driving and have a small car. We were thinking of getting a van anyway to haul our kids and their friends...and their stuff around where we live. We have decided to go ahead and get it before the trip, rather than renting.
I was interested to read that driving 9 hours didn't feel long to some of you. Wow, I am impressed. I guess I am a bit of a whip. I get sore and uncomfortable sitting for that long.

Most anyone would -- you don't want to drive 9 hours straight. That is 9 hours 'behind the wheel' but more like 11 or 12 hours w/ stops/breaks.

Well, I would test drive several minivans, check Consumer Reports for their reviews and choose a vehicle that will serve you well for many years not just for the one trip.
