Good Friday in Buenos Aires

I will be in Buenos Aires on Good Friday, April 2, 1010. Any recommendations on things to see or do? Any precautions to take?

It should be pretty quiet. A good day to walk along Libertador avenue, towards our zoo and Palermo park, if coming from the Recoleta area or the other way around, if staying in the Palermo area.

The museums and other attractions located on that avenue should be open.

You could also go to an "estancia". If you feel you would enjoy a peaceful horse ride, check out http://tinyurl.com/mp9kyw

Have a great time in our town.

I believe Good Friday may be a national holiday. Yet, we also will be there at that time and, for fear of not being able to shop one day my DW had me email Galerias Pacifico, assuming that if any stores are open they might be those in the mall. And, sure enough, in recognition of the shopping spirit, Galerias is open that Friday, and on Easter Sunday. We are likely trying to plan a tour for that day, assuming it might be a good day to travel the city.

As for Galerias, they have many of the stores you will find in other parts of the city and the mall itself is very well done. Have fun.

Good Friday IS a holiday and it is also a long weekend, which is why I would expect the town to be "pretty quiet".

All malls will be open, but small shops may not be. All restaurants, except those which normally close on Sundays and holidays, will be open.

It IS a perfect day to tour the town, because there should be very little traffic.

Have a great time in our town.

A great time to be in the city as it will be quiet, so the perfect time to walk around and take in the sights. I believe many locals are also taking the Thursday off so it will be a 4 day weekend for them. Expect most shops to be closed (shopping malls should stay open), some restaurants will be closed as will most museums.
Walk around the city center, to San Telmo, down to Puerto Madero and the Costanera.
If you are not a big walker the hop on/hop off bus is a great way to see most of the city without moving. There are two companies, the big yellow bus and open tour http://www.lopentour.com.ar/eng/home.php
If you want to be a bit more active I bike ride around town would also be good on that day as there will be little traffic,

Precautions - same as any big city in the world. Watch your wallet and your bag.
