Best location for hotel in Buenos Aires?

We're planning to be in BA for 3 nights next February prior to a cruise. We have Starwood points and are considering their Park Tower hotel located in front of Plaza San Martin. Years ago I stayed at the Sheraton next door and location was considered good, but I know that things change and I'm wondering, is it still a good location?

How does it compare to staying at Recoleta?

Would appreciate any comments , taking into account things like safety and convenience to restaurants and sights. Thanks in advance for any comments.

Well, the Recoleta is better, but if you have points, the Park Tower Sheraton should be fine.

Ask the concierge about precautions concerning the "bird poop" trick and that kind of thing.

Have a great time in our town.

Hello avrooster, thanks for your comments. Its disturbing to read so many negative reports about safety in BA. When I was there in the 80s there didn't seem to be the same level of concern.

From a safety point of view, is it much better to stay in Recoleta?

The Retiro and Plaza San Martín areas are favored by non-violent scam artists for that kind of thing, which is why I suggested you ask the concierge about precautions.

Being forewarned, you should be fine staying at the Park Tower and there is no need to change for safety reasons, the way I see it. You'd be just a very short cab ride away from the Recoleta and its tourism attractions.

If so inclined, feel free to write to me to [email protected]
