From Ocean Reef Key Largo to Key West Drive

My husband and I will be at The Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo in May, 2024. We will be renting a car and driving to Key West for 3 nights. Are there any Must See’s on our drive to Key West? First time visitors! Also, where would be the BEST, YUMMIEST, SEAFOOD….location for lunch?
Also…….has anyone done the floating TIKI bars? Are they a good way to get some sun and fun?

Thanks from Texas.

I love the drive through the Keys. The water views are beautiful. As far as seafood restaurants here are a few.
Islamorada—Lor-E-Lei. It has the best coconut shrimp. It might be too close to Key Largo though for a lunch stop.

Marathon—The Stuffed Pig. I know you said seafood, but they have great barbecue.

If you have time and need to stretch your legs, stop after going across the Seven Mile Bridge, and walk out on the old bridge. If the water’s not too choppy you can see all types of sea life in the water.

Big Pine Key—No Name Pub. This is a local place and be on the lookout on your drive there for Key Deer.

Cudjoe/Summerland Key—Mangrove Mama’s

Big Coppit Key—Geiger Key Marina and Restauran. This is one of our favorites, great hogfish sandwich.

We have never been on a floating Tiki Bar, although we have seen them on the water. I’m not sure about getting some sun while on them as they have a thatch roof.

Enjoy your time there. May is a good time to go as it shouldn’t be too crowded.

You will pass the memorial to the hurricane victims that is literally right on the road, adjacent to a church. In Key West itself, there is the Hemingway House as well as the Truman Little White House.
