Chile - Patagonia and Atacama desert

First time posting, so thanks for any and all help.
considering Chile for 10-12 days, can you do both Patagonia and the Atacama desert in that amount of time?
If not, which one would you say is easier to get too??
Solo traveller, but have some some travelling to different parts of the world.
Thanks!

Hi! We are in the process of planning an upcoming trip there as well. Yesterday we spoke to a friend who had traveled there recently. They flew into (and out of) Santiago, then stayed 5 nights in Atacama (in San Pedro) and then 3 nights in Torres del Paines. So you should be able to do both in the timeframe you have. They also raved about Valparaiso if you have time.

You could but it would be very rushed. Presumably you would fly into Santiago? if so then you would then need to fly to Calama and take a bus to San Pedro de Atacama. 3 or 4 days there would be enough for most. Then fly back to wherever you have in mind for Patagonia. Almost certainly thei should mean a connection in Santiago, all of which takes time, perhaps too much time in 10-12 days.

As mentioned above, Valparaiso is a very interesting city and , IMO , way more interesting than Santiago. Some photos and detail from our time there @ https://accidentalnomads.com/categor...america/chile/.

My personal view is that you would be better spending all of your time in Patagonia and doing it properly rather than trying to spread your time too thinly.
