steve and becky's

Well, I just discovered that Ramon's is booked for the nights we wanted. That is what I get for procrastination! They do have a room at Steve and Becky's. Has anyone stayed here? Any comments? An easy walk to the pier at Ramon's? It looks like it is right next to the airstrip - will it be as noisy as I think it will? Other options are Sunbreeze, Mayan Princess, or San Pedro Holiday Hotel.

We thought long and hard about Steve and Becky's before our first visit a couple of years ago. The ability to use the facilities at Ramon's was inviting. But, finally decided we wanted an ocean view. We weren't going all the way the Belize to be on the other side of the street. I honestly don't think airport noise would be a factor, few if any flights after dark. They're all such small planes, they don't make that much noise anyway.

Anyway, for our first trip we ended up at Blue Tang. No complaints, but I think there are places with 'more bang for the buck'. The past two stays we've been Belizean Reef. Absolutely love the place, but no pool.

Have you checked the Palms? I haven't stayed at any of the places you list, but would probably choose Sunbreeze. I'm not sure why. Hopefully someone with more personal experience can compare the three. Jean

Thanks Jean. Do you know how far Steve and Becky's is from the beach? I know it is across the street, but does this mean it is a quick 2 seconds or a 10 minute walk? It is so diffucult to judge from the map alone.

Ramon's has fairly extensive grounds (for Ambergris Caye). I'm guessing less than five minutes though. Ramon's really does sit on a nice section of beach. Some pretty fun snorkeling off of their dock too. Jean

Sun Breeze is right on the beach, next to Ramons. Has a seawall, but you can walk down to Ramons, a few hundred yards down the beach. Mayn Princess and Holiday are smck in the middle of town which ain't so big to begin with, so the beaches in front are more commercial with more people and boat traffic. You would still have to walk further down or up the beach to swim away from boat traffic. Steve and Beckys are cute, a few minutes from the beach, but I'd go for a view of the sea if I had a choice. Airstrip noise is not an issue along the beach and assume it won;t be a steve and beckys either.

Steve & Becky's is one of the very few hotels on the island that isn't on the beach. It is just, oh, 250 ft. maybe from the water, but you do have to cross the road and walk through Ramon's.

The units are pretty nice, and airport noise shouldn't be a problem. The San Pedro airstrip isn't like a big airport with jets. The little Cessnas come in rather quietly. I've not stayed at Steve & Becky's but I've never had a problem with aircraft noise at SunBreeze or Ramon's nor have I heard of anyone who has, except once or twice from people at Belizean Reef Suites, since only the bedrooms are A/C there and the windows are kept open.
