Osa Wildlife Sanctuary

We are thinking of visitng the Osa Wildlife Sanctuary from Puerto Jimez before we had South. I was wondering how much time to allow. Any idea how long the boat trips and tour are and what the times are? Also wondering what the coast is and if I can book it in town in PJ.

Thank you!!

I'm pretty sure the am one is at 930, not sure if they have an afternoon one as well. The boat you may be able to just arrange one at the pier in PJ, I'm just guessing it would run around $100 r/t, maybe less? The pier isn't far from the airport (well nothing is far from the airport in PJ!). The ride was about 30 minutes across. Not sure how actively they check their email but you may want to email Earl & Carol to get more info and to set up a tour if you want to arrange on your own. The site is http://www.osawildlife.org/index.html Good luck!

Hi Tully,
Thank you for the info and the web link. I had been unable to find their site.

I am wondering if we can take a tour and still catch the 1:30 collectivo. Also trying to figure out if going on the 1:30 collecitvo is better then the 6am. It seems that we will miss most of our day if we arrive at 3:30.

you can do both things with out a problem. The trip to the wildlife santuary is pretty wonderfull, but it is short. Most animals like monkeys come great you right at the boat. Others are real close by. So most of the time is spend in the explanation from the people that run the place and try to reinsert animals into the wild.

the collectivo will frop you are carate at 3:30, is a wonderfull moment of the day at carate. with time work a walk down the beach, and a good dinner.

Gem, last week we left for the sanctuary from the pier at 9:00. We were back around 11:30 1.5 hour at the sanctuary.
