effects of hurricane on pv

am thinking of going to pv have found good deals on 3&4 star resorts are they damadged? going in march

Just returned from 10 days in Puerto Vallarta. I stay "south of the river" where there the damage was not too bad. They are rebuilding the Malecon and along Playa Los Muertos. I've never stayed out in the resorts, but current word has it... Nuevo Vallarta and The Marina suffered little. A couple of the "Hotel Zone" properties were badly damaged (i.e., Sheraton). Think you'd need to post/research exactly which place(s) you are considering to get a more concise answer. Personally I *much* prefer the El Centro, Old Town area instead of staying out in the resorts north of town. But if you have a specific place in mind, post the names, and maybe we can help.

susan can get the the westin for $900 air and hotel from minneapolis,air only is between 3$4 hundred.how much are hotels in old town?

Rich, I paid $440 non-stop RT air only on Alaska from Seattle. The hotels can be anywhere from $20US-$100+US per night depending on what you are looking for. I paid $27 at Posada Roger which is a 3-star but I certainly wouldn't call it a resort ;-) by any stretch of the imagination!! It's a couple blocks from the beach, with small pool, rooftop sundeck, kind of funky/rustic, Mexican owned, very friendly staff. I'm not saying that's the place for you, just an example. Another favorite (& definite step-up) is Casa Andrea ~$475US/week double room, beautiful pool and gardens, quiet, private, open air patio kitchens with each room. www.casa-andrea.com I think The Westin is in "The Marina" which was not so badly hurt in the hurricane (but don't quote me on that). This area is about 10-15 mins. by bus or taxi north of downtown. Hope this helps. I love that town!!

The Westin was hardly affected at all, as was the same for all the Marina. You wouldn't know anything had occurred.

there in Nov - Malecon should be close to finished. Intercon (which I think is really overpriced) was still repairing its pool and restaurant - but should be done by now. Westin looked absolutely fine. Around Conchas Chinas biggest thing was erosion of beach - significant, and others have said Mismaloya had lost a hell of a lot of sand (but told by a local they have been suffering from subsidence and erosion for a couple of years). Also pipes seem to have broken and perhaps the cause of commonly seen areas of scummy water.
