Resort recommendation in Puerto Vallarta?

We are in our mid 20s and would like a quiet, romantic trip yet we would also like to be relatively close to downtown to experience the nightlife.

Hmmm... I love PV dearly and it is a very romantic place. That said...

Does it have to be a resort with activities, restaurants, etc. or can it be a regular hotel? PV is a pretty noisy place generally speaking, so <quiet> and <close to downtown> both is not going to be all that easy to find. Do you hope to be close enough to walk to El Centro? Or is a short taxi or bus ride OK? Do you have a price range in mind? Do you prefer something modern (i.e., Marriott or Westin) or more traditional Mexican style?

Go to trip advisor.com and check out the reviews P.V. is a beautiful place Quinta Real is not on the beach and it is not close to town, The Sheraton is close to town you can actually walk to get there, however I can't say it's Romantic although it is a beautiful hotel. Would you consider a privately owned place I hear Casa Andrea is very nice and close to town. Good Luck if you need more info please e mail back.
