well let me tell you that Acapulco is very very crowded over the Christmas to New Years week.
The more affluent Mexicans come down from Mexico City and many other samll towns and flock around the beach area.
They are quiet and never a problem, although their kids can easy over take the pool area if you are at a small place.
I stayed at one of the major hotels along the "Acapulco Strip", but I do not think this is what you want.
I would go to Google and type in Acapulco hotels and motels and then review the list.
I was there over Christmas and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thank you Percy! I've checked every thing from google to Expedia and I have gotten the same results. I guess I might just have to pay more for a room
I did see on American Airlines Vacations a hotel called the Marina Suites. I could get a rate of $75. a night. I checked out a Tripadvisor report and learned that a couple hade money stole from the hotel safe. This was the only review of the hotel. Now, could this happen again? Who knows. I'd like to think not but it doesnt exactly inspire confidence.

I got a package deal and I was very happy with it.
I stayed in the heart of the hotel zone and it was nice to be at the cenre of everything.
We had a private tour guie and on Christmas Day we toured all of Acapulco and the cliff Divers.
Then another day we took a full day trip to Taxco..the world Silver Capital.
But the highlite of the trip was when I told Jose, our tour guide, :
"Just take me everywhere in Acapulco for the day, where tourist do not usually go."
Boy, did he show me Acapulco like I never saw before, we ended the day sitting on a high look out ,and watched the sun set over the Pacfic Ocean in the West...priceless !!!!
Hope you find your place.

You picked a super busy and expensive time. Check out Aeromexico's site

A good travel agent might be able to help. Many places are already booked solid for Christmas there. Good luck!

The only place worth staying in Acapulco is Las Brisas!
Their holiday rates begin about 22 December as I recall.
There are a number of really great rentals on the mountain near Las Brisas - they can handle 6 - 12 people with maid, cook, driver, gardener, etc.
You may want to consider San Miguel de Allende for a relaxing colonial MX adventure. Sounds like you may need some stress relief, lol!

The big problems is that you want to go over Christmas and you want a room for about $75.00 ,
We all know that going over Christmas and New Years is the time that hotels and airlines like to "suck it to you."
Beachboi is correct about the hotel Plaza las Glorias El Mirador, ( Mirador means lookout, as in viewpoint).
This is a nice place and you willget preferred seats for the Cliff Divers, but you are sort of isolated to one end of the Acapulco Bay.
I walked her all the way from the middle of the hotel zone in downtown Acapulco, its a looooong walk,
but I wanted to see things along the way like Papagago Park, San Diego Fort,The Zocalo( this is old Acapulco.)
Needless to say I took the bus back for 50cents $USA.
You could take a bus from here each day to whereever you decided to go like downtown.
The cruise ships come in near Papagayo Park, you cannot miss them.
The problems with staying atLas Brisas , is that once again you are waaaay over on the other side now , and very near the Airport.
There is a group of hotels:
Las Brisas...this is sort of all by itself.
Fairmount Acapulco Princess.
and next door is the Fairmont Pierre Marques.
and then next door is Vidafel Mayan Palace,
also here is the Camino Real Acapulco Diamante and finally the Quinta Reall Acapulco.
First let me tell you that all of these places are
more expensive, some of these resorts have their own 18 hole golf course.
Howard Hughes lived on the whole top floor of the Fairmount Princess at one time.
Remember also that you have a long way to get to downtown Acapulco.
You know , I know all the hotels along the main strip called Avenue of Costera Miguel Aleman, but these are sort of package deal hotles and I am sure that the rooms are costly and more so over Christams..I know I have been there..
but right across the street and for miles each way are many other smaller hotels, I just do not know the names of them, It is hard to remember all the names.
I can tell you one thing for sure you do not want to drive in Acapulco.
Hey , look , let me give you the name of a great tour guide organizer there.
His name is Celso Lopez ( Hmm sounds Mexican !!!!!).
Please e- mail him at:
[email protected]
Tell him you talked to me ( I am from Edmonton Alberta), celso just e mailed me about a month ago and he is in Cancun right now doing tours, BUT he will be in Acapulco later on and he will give you all the details you may want.
He lives in Acapulco.
Hope this helps you a bit

Thank you Percy and all!!! I did find a place that might fir the bill. Its called Villa Romana. I spoke with the owner and she seemed lovely. I got a room for 60. a night with AC. Now I know that that may seem scary but it is Mexico and it is possible to find decent places at this price. Im noty the resort type anyway.
