Car Rental Drop-off in Puntarenas?

Has anyone dropped off a rental car in Puntarenas recently? If so what company did you rent from, and did they charge an extra fee for this convenience?

We're flying into San Jose late Saturday night, March 26th, hoping to rent a car Easter Sunday to travel around the Monteverde and Arenal area for a couple days.

Then we'd like to leave it in Puntarenas and take a bus to Montezuma so we don't waste the $ with a car sitting in a parking lot for a few days when we're relaxing.

The closest location to Puntarenas we can find is near Jaco which seems out of the way.

Any advice? Thanks in advance!

Don't know of any places in Puntarenas. I didn't see any rental agencies, nor did I see any parking garages. If you plan on just staying in Montezuma, a bus ride would be fine, just extremely time consuming. A car would give you more freedom to check other places, north of Montezuma.

Thoid, I agree with you. A car wold not only be nice to have while in Montezuma, there is a sometimes hefty fee involved in having a car dropped off at another location. I'd suggest keeping the car and using it to explore the southern end of the Nicoya Peninsula.

The Fiesta Resort in Puntarenas has a car rental agency inside but not sure of what the name is!

Thanks for the advice everyone! We decided to splurge and rent a car for the entire trip.

We have also changed plans and are skipping Montezuma and heading to Samara instead.
