Cahal Pech Village? - Belize
In trying to plan our trip to Belize, I have run across this hotel. Any recent reports/comments about this hotel?
The rates are unbelievably low, compared to the jungle lodge options? Is there an obvious reason, or is it just a good deal? This would certainly help, since airfare to Belize is not far from twice what we normally pay to Costa Rica.
Our days will be packed while in this area, so we are really not looking for anything with tons of amenities. Also, due to its location going into San Ignacio for meals, should be quite simple.
Any feedback?
Thanks

That might be where we stayed a few years ago (the name seems right). It was fairly comfortable, a shortish walk into town. We thought it was good value, but again, it was a few years ago, so I don't really have recent comments.

The hill leading up to the hotel from town is pretty brutal, but you can take a cab for $5. You might also look into the San Ignacio Resort Hotel. It's a little closer to town, but a little more expensive too. They both have pools.

I responded to your cross-posting on another Belize forum. The rates are only low compared with the upscale lodges. Cahal Pech Villages rates are similar to those in about a dozen other hotels and lodges in the low-moderate category.

I just spent 3 nights at Cahal Pech Village last week. My friend and I stayed in one of the cabanas. It was pretty nice. We had a large screened patio with a nice view of the town.
They even provided a strong fan to keep us cool at night.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. They set-up excellent tours of the ATM cave, Tikal, and the Belize zoo for us with very knowledgeable and fun tour guides.
The pool is nice and the restaurant on-site has good food.
You can walk into San Ignacio to the restaurants in about 15 minutes depending upon where you are going to eat. Or, you can always take a cab for $5 Belize dollars.
I recommend Cahal Pech. It is definitely more of a resort than other accomodations I saw in San Ignacio.
