Recs for Belize lodging in Cayes

Once again, last minute. We have a room for the jungle at Chaa Creek but wanted a few days at the beach for relaxing, snorkeling and possibly shallow diving. Victoria House was our first choice but they are apparently booked.

Any other suggestions? I'm going to sit down after work and look but thought I'd check in with Fodor's which always has excellent advice. Prefer something smaller and intimate rather than a large
MArriott type deal.

I like Xanadu as well.

If you want to be further from town, look at Mata Chica or POrtofino.

Mata Chica and Portofino would be your best options if VH appealed to you. Both are far north of town and accesible by water taxi. Or you might want to consider Placencia with better beaches. Look at both Turtle Inn and Roberts Grove.

I liked the condos of Paradise Villas for location (near town), comfort, organization, price, and nice pool area.
