'Cafe Mundo', popular eating establishment closed down by authorities
Has anyone eaten at the well known Cafe Mundo in San Jose? Apparently they have been closed down by authorities for numerous food violations in which people were complaining of illnesses which included employees. There has been no date for reopening. Complaints started around March 23, 2011.

One day you are going to start a positive thread, or at least one with an actual personal experience instead of just another than a bad news link you found online somewhere... and I am gonna fall off my chair.

Well, suze, I guess you and I have both fallen off our chairs! Who would have thought that crowdpub could have posted something positive or even non-negative!
Now, if crowdpub could only post something that was not gleaned from some news source, but from actual experience, that would be a real doozy!
There are things that happen in Costa Rica that are in the news every day that affect tourism, but I don't post them. I don't see that the closing of Cafe Mundo is a big deal. If you go there and it's closed.... go somewhere else.

I've had many enjoyable, delicious meals at Cafe Mundo over the years, so I was sorry and shocked to open up the paper yesterday to read this. It's getting a HUGE amount of coverage here. Apparently several government people came down with food poisoning after eating there, and many others have now come forth to say that they got sick too.
A sign on the gate says "Closed for remodeling." I think they're going to need more than remodeling.
