Yet Another Italy/France Itinerary!
We will be honeymooning in Italy and France (Paris) July 10-25. I have taken quite a bit of advice from this forum thus far and plan on doing quite a bit more sites/restaurant research when we get closer but I would like some input on the travel portion of our itinerary.
July 9 - Leave CVG direct flight to FCO
July 10 - Arrive FCO 10:10 am. Immediately head to Positano. Reservations at Villa Rosa.
July 13 - Head to Rome. Reservations at Hotel Genio (near Piazza Navona). Planning on a day trip to Pompeii at some point during our stay in Rome.
July 17 - Fly Volare to Paris. We have rented an apartment on Ile St. Louis for the week.
July 24 - Fly back to Rome. Stay in the city for one last dinner and stroll through the streets.
July 25 - Depart FCO for CVG at 10:55 am
Ideally, we would have liked to fly into Rome and out of Paris but the $495 direct flight to Rome was too good to pass up!
I have all of the information (gathered on this site - thank you all!) in regards to travel between Rome and Positano.
How does this look? Am I missing anything (in terms of travel arrangements?)

What am I missing in your logic here? Pompeii is just "down the road" from Positano. Why go back to Rome to "day trip to Pompeii". It's essentially "on the way in either direction between Rome and Positano (doesn't seem like you would want to go there on your way TO Positano).
By the way, how ARE you getting between Rome and Positano?
Extraordinary good deal on the flight. Especially if it that is with taxes included (and still good for Cincinnati even if the taxes are extra - - all the more phenomenal for midsummer).
Would you like to be kept informed about Fodorites' get-togethers in the Ohio Valley (IN/KY/OH area, broadly speaking)? Had one in March (in Louisville).
Whetther yes or no, congratulations on your new life in marriage... and...
Best wishes,

Thanks for the good wishes Rex.
It is still a possibility that we will hit Pompeii on the way into Rome. I guess I just pictured us being laden down with luggage coming into Naples...though I believe I read that they have a place to store it.
The plan is to take the train from Termini to Naples, then the Circumvesuvia from Naples to Sorrento
And yes, I would like to be kept in the loop on any "local" get-togethers.
As for the plane tickets: I caught a deal on Delta's website (it only lasted for about 6 hours). And yes, that is $495 total per ticket - taxes included.
All my obssesive flight searching paid off!

Hi GS,
Great fare!
I also suggest visiting Pompeii from Positano rather than from Rome.
You can make this a day trip that includes Pompeii, a visit to the Archaeological Museum in Naples (perhaps a visit to the Capella Sansevero for the "Veiled Christ" and an evening in Naples.

Thanks ira. We may just do this. I had thoughts of using the first three days as the "relaxation days" but since we are waiting a week after the wedding to leave, we really won't need to relax all that much.
I'm sure this has been answered somewhere...but how long does it take to get to Naples from Positano and what is the best way to go (transportation)?
