WINDSOR CASTLE ON A SATURDAY

How crowded is Windsor Castle on a Saturday in July - I plan to go there quite early,ie, arrive by 9.30 AM. But if it is going to be a mad rush, I'd rather make it on a week day. Similar question for Tower oF LONDON. My current plan is early on a Sunday Morning. Any input would be welcome.

in july, most of the top london area tourist attractions will be quite crowded. i would expect the weekends to be more crowded than other days but all days will have crowds in the summer.

Probably very busy that time of year. I know I had to queue up for nearly an hour to get into windsor last time I was there, but the sun was shining, it wasn't bad.
A weekday may not make too much difference in July, it depends whether you are there before or after the schools break up. Most schools are breaking up around the 21st.

If you are at the ticket office before it opens and are one of the first ones in to the Castle precinct then Sat will be OK. The tour groups don't usually show up until after 10:00 a.m. I'd go straight to the Dolls House because it won't have a queue at opening time. The Doll house itself doesn't take long at all - but later in the day the line can be 45 - 60 mins.

Then go straight to the queue for the State apartments. Should be short because the coaches are still parking and dropping off their hordes. I would arrive before 9:30 - go to Windsor in the morning and have breakfast there and be only a block from entrance to the Castle so you can be in line maybe 15 minutes before it opens.

As for the Tower - do anything you can to avoid going there on a Sunday. sat is bad too but not nearly as crowded as Sundays. By far the busiest day at the Tower. And if is is a nice day - then Sundays are even worse.

If it were me - I'd go to the Tower on a weekday morning and do Windsor on Sat morning (unless you have enough time to do both on different weekday mornings)

i just cmae back from London. We visited the Windsor castle on 4-29-06. We bought our tickets in advance. That made a large difference. It saved wwiting in a very long line. By the time we came out they were lined up and the line went around the building to buy tickets. It was no extremely crowded inside the castle compound. Enjoy...
