Where to stay in Florence

Three couples are traveling to Florence in late September and are interested in moderate lodgings. We would be staying three nights and would be open to apartments. We are also looking seriously at the convent near the train station. I realize we may be very late but we're optimists. Any help?

Take a look. We've used them with satisfaction. The central area of Florence is reasonable compact, so most apts. are in a good location. Or you can look into the Oltrano district, which is across the river from the main area, but still OK.

We (2 couples) rented an apartment near the Duomo 2 years ago, through http://windowsonitaly.com/

I agree with j_999_9

We stayed in the Lepri apartment and it was wonderful. The area was perfect. The only problem was no elevator. We just planned our excursions better to avoid multiple trips up and down.

We stayed at Hotel Accademia two years ago; moderate priced, nice sized rooms and excellent location just a couple of blocks from the train station and about 2 blocks to Duomo, Accademia, Medici Chapels, etc. Very central. the breakfast was good, complicated floorplan but once you figured it out, no problem. They don't have an elevator or onsite restaurant, hence its a 2 or 3*. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Try the Hotel Casci-it is centrally located, moderate and CLEAN-see other reviews posted to confirm-I stayed there for 7 nights in October, 2006. Good Luck

If you have a medium-low budget I can highly recommend http://www.sleepinflorence.com/Bed-And-Breakfast.htm
they have a very good range of B&B and nice, clean and cheap accommodations nearby the train stations, too.

If you are looking for an apartment or holiday villa, I suggest you to visit
www.summerinitaly.com or http://www6.cuendetvillas.com/ but, I think that 3 nights won't be enough..I mean they usually rent from Sat to Sat, but you can still ask.

Hope it helps!
